Today’s poem is inspired by Princess Rose Nasmiyu’s latest facebook post. Princess Rose Nasmiyu is a Kenyan hero who has inspired many through her songs and spirited fight of cancer. She says in her post:
“Hello Everyone, am doing well since i left hospital 9 days ago, I have been very busy with my baby sister Erinne who was born on 31st August 2012,helping mum to change nappy and bond before i go back to hospital on Tuesday for chemo then stem cell plant which i will be in hospital for approximately 4 weeks or more. i will be in total isolation and no one is allowed to visit apart from my mum and my baby sister to give me strength. Mum will update you on my progress while am in hospital, it’s gonna be the hardest time but i know i will sail through as with God everything is possible love you all and God bless xxxx
I hope you take a few moments of your time to remember our Rose in your prayers to whatever deity looks after health in your religion.
When I reflect upon your life princess,
I am ashamed,
Not of you, but me
For you fill me with pride and admiration
The way you live your life
Full of hope and love
Shames my days
Full of complaints and nagging
How do you do it princess?
You are a true princess
The princess of people’s hearts
The princess of my inspiration
The princess of victory
The true princess of bravery in the face of danger
You must have been born to teach us
To be grateful,
To be hopeful,
To be determined to fight for life
To live our dreams and
To dare to live our fantasies
You are a true princess
And more than a rose
We love you
